For years Michael John Poirier has wrapped his prayers in songs
and presented them as gifts to listeners and to God.

Sung in bus stations to comfort lonely, weary travelers, on street corners to calm the hurried, in hospitals to relieve the suffering and in soup kitchens to fill the hungry. Michael's music speaks of forgiveness, peace, and love from the perspective of someone who knows what it takes to forgive, and the wonderful blessings it brings.

One of 12 children, Michael John Poirier began singing publicly
at age 14 when he joined a folk group at his church.
By the age of 21, music became his full-time profession.

He played top 40 and original music in bars and restaurants for five years
until he could no longer ignore an inner call to return to prayer. He put those prayers to music and soon recorded his first album titled, "Hello Lord".

For the next seven years, Michael struggled to know what God was calling him to do with his life. For a year, he lived the life of a troubadour, giving away most of his belongings, and traveling with a backpack and guitar. He sang at bus stations, hospitals, colleges, and soup kitchens across the country.

In 1993, he began offering candlelight prayer concerts at parishes nationwide, an evening of healing through music and storytelling. That year he met his future wife, Mary Cook, and they were married in Arizona where they made their home for six years.

In 2000 they sold their home in Arizona and for the next one and a half years they traveled around the country in a motor home with their two sons, offering evenings of prayersongs and Eucharistic Adoration to draw people closer to the love and mercy of God. He and his family now make their home in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Often, his theme is forgiveness.

Michael still asks people to pray for his grandmother's killer. She (Agnes) was murdered on July 4, 1990 at age 79. Michael believes hatred causes a cancer of the soul that only forgiveness can cure. In the fall of 1990, Michael met Mother Teresa. In a brief, private conversation he told the saintly woman about his grandmother's death, she urged him and his family to forgive the killer. "(It is) not enough not to hate." Mother Teresa told him, "Tell them to forgive this man from the heart and their pain will be lifted."

Michael's music is filled with prayers of encouragement, comfort, forgiveness, and mercy. He has composed more than 60 songs, released six music albums, and one storytelling album.

His music comes from the heart and is for people of all faiths, both new and old to the Christian faith. You can download free MP3's and listen to samples of his music at www.prayersongs.com
